FCS Hosts College & Career Day

On Feb. 8th, 2017 28 BETA Club members began their day setting up for the 7th annual College and Career Fair at 8 a.m. Throughout the day 261 students sign in from both Franklin County School and the ABC School that ranged from grades 8 -12.  The students who attended the College and Career Fair took a tour through a series of vendors who offered an inside look at the many future careers and educational opportunities on display.
A total of 50 representatives with 27 vendors attended.  The representatives and vendors included colleges, technical schools, State of Florida agencies, Franklin County agencies and services, as well as banking, medical, conservation corps, the Department of Education, an attorney and three branches of the military.  All of the vendors were glad to assist with the student interests, and future plans as well as giving out information and goody bags to the students.  The military branches had a chin up bar which was a great hit with the students as they competed against each other for the highest number of chin ups and also a few push ups for good measure.  After the fair closed, the vendors were then treated to a delicious luncheon prepared by our culinary art program's students under the direction of Mrs. Debi Fletcher.  Everyone seemed to really enjoy their time at the fair.
This event would not have been a success without the help of our maintenance and custodial staff. Special thanks to Beta Club sponsor, Ms. Gavigan.
