School Health Services
Your child has the opportunity to participate in health services provided by the School District of Franklin County and the Florida Department of Health in Franklin County, as defined by the School Health Services Plan.
Health Services May Include:
- Health Appraisals
- Health Counseling Referrals & Follow- up
- Health Promotion
- Diseases and Injury Prevention
- Emergency Care
- Nursing Assessment
- Health Education
- Parent/ Community Education
- Home Visits
- Health Consultations
- Screenings
- Record Review
Required screenings are listed below. Individual students may be referred for screenings as needed. Enhanced screenings may include dental screenings in grades listed (K, 1, 3, & 6) and blood pressure screenings in 9th grade. Additionally, new students in K-5 will be screened for vision, hearing and growth & development. Parents are encouraged to seek medical evaluation of problems identified through the screening process.
Screenings:
Hearing: K, 1, 3, 6 and referrals
Vision: K, 1, 3, 6 and referrals
Growth and Development (Body Mass Index): 1, 3, 6 and referrals
Scoliosis (curvature of the spine): 6 and referrals
Blood Pressure: 9 and referrals
Parents who do not wish for their child to participate in health services and/or screenings must inform the school in writing each year.
Nutrition and Physical Fitness Letter
