FCS expands campus opportunities to include an Environmental Club

The FCS Environmental Club is an after-school program that focuses on environmental issues and exposes youth to science-related careers.

Ms. Moore, the club sponsor, reached out to the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve and has welcome their partnership as the school values their collaboration on many projects. Students have had the opportunity to participate in many environmental educational experiences, such as coring pine trees to determine age, transplanting important estuary plants, as well as learning how to maintain a saltwater aquarium.

As a group, students also go on nature hikes, study the Students from Environmental Club Photo bioregional flora and fauna, learn about the natural history of this region, and even pick up trash along the way!

The Environmental Club had one successful fundraiser and raised $428 dollars to help support future endeavors.

With the help of parent volunteers and the facilities department, the club hopes to install a garden on campus in which all grades can participate in hands-on agriculture-related activities aligned with the Sunshine State Standards while supporting our culinary department.

If you would like to support the Environmental Club by volunteering or provide a monetary donation please contact the District Office @ 850.670.2810 or by contacting Ms. Ashley Moore @
