5th Grade Field Trip to Challenger Learning Center in Tallahassee

Our 5th grade students had a blast at the Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee today! The astronauts from Franklin County Schools 5th Grade built a model of Space Rocket Saturn 5, witnessed Bernoulli’s Principal, learned about gyroscopes and how they maneuver & boarded a Space Station to complete a mission building a space probe. Seahawk Astronauts launched a space probe to rendezvous with Comet Encke, but instead discovered a new comet, which they named Comet Seahawk. Superintendent Steve Lanier says, "That’s outstanding work and I couldn’t be prouder!! Keep soaring high, Seahawks!" 🌍 🔭✖️➗🕵️‍♂️🧑‍🎓🌟
The center is the K-12 educational outreach facility of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and is an “edu-tainment” destination for lifelong learning (CLC). Inside it features a space mission simulator, an IMAX 3D theatre and a dome theatre planetarium 🪐. This is a great way to foster students with an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
A special thanks to the Florida Space Grant Consortium & Challenger Learning Center Match for the sponsorship. We applaud all chaperones, teachers, instructors, parents/guardians, our bus driver, & well-behaved students for a day well spent.
