Franklin County NJORTC Cadets Earn Promotion at Wakulla's Summer Boot Camp
FCS NJROTC students participated in a week-long boot camp hosted by the Wakulla NJROTC program. The boot camp is held each summer for students who are entering or are currently participating in the NJROTC program. Students are challenged both physically and mentally during the week. They participate in physical fitness activities, leadership, team building, and academics.
FCS cadets Bradley Page and Chris Russell attended all five days of the boot camp along with instructor Kevin Cox. Page & Russell received special recognition for achieving perfect attendance as the only cadets from Franklin County. In addition, both students received the following ribbons for their efforts: most effort shown by a cadet, boot camp participation, and basic leadership training. Both students also received promotions in rank, being recognized as Cadet Petty Officer 3rd Class.
Bradley Page expresses, "One of the biggest challenges was adjusting to working in a platoon. Due to small numbers, Petty Officer Russell and I had never worked in this type of environment. Though the work was, at times, stressful and strenuous, I believe that we are both better equipped for future endeavors. I look forward to furthering the connection between Franklin and Wakulla with the possibility of working together again. However, until that time, there is much work to be done."
